About US

Who we are and what we believe!

Our congregation takes its name from the location where it first began — right on the corner of 170th street and Jerome Ave in the Bronx 27 years ago. It is made up of members from different walks of life who have experienced God’s grace in multiform ways. Some have dealt with alcohol and drug abuse; others have suffered violent and abusive relationships and others are simply looking to lead a purposeful life. Many have been restored and healed from a difficult past.

These are the same brothers and sisters investing their time, love, financial resources and skills to ensure others can also be restored. We offer support and guidance to all our members regardless of their immigration status and circumstances. Because we have experienced so much of God’s love, we take to heart the Bible verse, “give by grace, that which by grace you have received.” Matthew 10:8

PIJ (Primera Iglesia Jerome) translated First Church of Jerome, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working tirelessly to supply the basic necessities of the growing homeless population in our neighborhood; and developing new ways to positively impact the lives of everyone in our community and abroad.
